On 30th March 2023, Associate Professor Dr. Sarintip Tantanee, President of Naresuan University (NU) led the NU administrative team comprising (i) Professor Dr. Kornkanok Ingkaninan, Vice President for Research and Innovation Development; (ii) Dr. Yutthapong Tongpob, Assistant to the President for Research and Innovation Development; (iii) Associate Professor Dr. Usa Padgate, Assistant to the President for International Affairs; (iv) Associate Professor Dr. Krongkarn Chootip, Dean of the Graduate School; (v) Assistant Professor Dr. Piriya Narukhutrpichai, Dean of Faculty of Medicine; (vi) Assistant Professor Dr. Saisiri Merasena, Dean of Faculty of Medical Science; (vii) Associate Professor Dr. Sutisa Thanoi, Deputy Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, Faculty of Medical Science; and (viii) Associate Professor Dr. Sukunya Ross, Assistant Dean for Public Relations and International Affairs, Faculty of Science, in a visit to Kanazawa University (KU), Japan.
NU delegates were welcomed by Professor Dr. Takashi Wada; President of KU, Professor Megumi Shimura, Vice President for International Affairs, and the KU administrative team at Kakuma Campus (Science and Engineering).

The delegates from the two universities discussed ongoing academic projects and research collaborations between KU and NU (via Faculty of Medical Science and Faculty of Medicine), as well as further research and academic collaborations to be coordinated by Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Business, Economics and Communications at NU. Discussions were also conducted on the possibility of GIS NU to collaborate with Advanced Research Center for Space Science and Technology (ARC-SAT) at KU, and on potential collaborations in the field of Chemistry, e.g. functional materials, nano-supramolecule, energy creation, and green sustainability.

In the afternoon session, the NU delegates visited KU’s Tsuruma Campus (Medicine) with the intermediation of Professor Dr. Osamu Hori, Dean of College of Medical, Phamaceutical and Health Science; Professor Dr. Atsushi Tajima, Dean of Graduate School of Advanced Preventive Medical Sciences; Professor Dr. Kazuhisa Sugiyama, Head of School of Medicine; and Professor Dr. Yasuhiko Yamamoto, Advisor to the President. The delegates discussed the MOA and MOI of an ongoing Cotutelle Double-Degree Doctoral Program and the possibilities to expand research and academic collaborations as well as student and staff exchange programs.

The two parties made plans to discuss further cooperations in detail. After a pleasant conversation, the delegates took a commemorative photo. NU wishes to express deep appreciation to all KU staff for their heartwarming welcome as well as for the fruitful discussions conducted during the visit. Impactful collaborations and efficient networks are anticipated as a result of this visit.
