The Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Thailand, H.E. Mr. Pavel Pitel, together with Dr.
Libor Kostka from Czech Academy of Sciences, were warmly welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarintip Tantanee, President of Naresuan University, and executive staff members from Faculty of Science and Faculty of Engineering. Referring to the diplomatic relationship between the Czech Republic and the Kingdom of Thailand since the end of the Cold War, Ambassador Pitel is keen to help locate potential Czechia public and private partners for Naresuan University to work closely with.
Strategically located in the heart of Europe, the Czech Republic is known for its capabilities in producing advanced products, its famous medical device manufacturers and its automotive technology through state-owned car maker ’Škoda.’ H.E. Pitel emphasized that the European Space Program in Prague has a key mission to collect data from satellites for soil analyses and agricultural applications, and program partners could make use of them in relevant studies. The Czech Republuc is, furthermore, committed to water management and research on contamination of water.
As the pendulum of cooperation heads towards Southeast Asia, the Ambassador is willing to facilitate international ties between Naresuan University and Czechia partners, given that scopes of the cooperation are identified, particularly in niche areas. It was proposed that human resource development be prioritized, and this could usefully be done through dual degree programs and the mobility of staff and students for research, culture and exchange purposes with the support from channels such as the Erasmus Plus program.
The meeting was arranged on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 14.00 at Mahamontri Meeting Room, King Naresaun Exhibition and Convention Center, Naresuan University.
